Amazon.co.uk Review
Season 3 of ABC's terrific ensemble drama Brothers and Sisters finds the pampered Walker family of Pasadena in fine neurotic form. Happily, the art of deep in-person conversation (and confrontation) is alive and well among the Walkers and their extended family, which continues the welcome echoes of one of its ancestor shows, thirtysomething. As it turns out, the Walkers have a lot to talk about. The sharkish Holly (a fearless and delightful Patricia Wettig) is a much bigger character this season, and that raises Brothers and Sisters' complexity level accordingly. Holly, mistress of the late William Walker (Tom Skerritt, in flashbacks), is now running the Walker family business, Ojai Foods, which results in extreme tension for Walker's widow, Nora. Sally Field continues to bring great depth and nuance to her performance as Nora--a not-so-traditional housewife facing her late husband's betrayals (and the viewer learns of more this season), yet finding that adversity really does make her stronger. The rest of the stellar ensemble includes Rob Lowe as the uber-ambitious senator husband of Kitty, played by Calista Flockhart, who shows welcome restraint. Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) contends with her new single life by plunging into a new startup venture--and finding she's pretty darn good at it. The three Walker brothers include Kevin (Matthew Rhys), Tommy (Balthazar Getty) and recovered junkie vet Justin (Dave Annable), the last of whom is delighted to discover that the comely Rebecca (Emily VanCamp) is not actually a blood relative. Much of season 3's sexiness comes from this new, hot couple. And there's drama with Tommy, too--which will change the Walkers' lives forever. --A.T. Hurley

4 out of 5 stars Great prodcut   June 9, 2010

I just love brothers and sisters and couldn't wait to own the next available season.
All the usual fun and drama of the walker clan.
Well packaged and speedy deliver from amazon as always.

3 out of 5 stars more of the same and a little bit boring sometimes   May 25, 2010

After the first two seasons this third season is more of the same. Sometimes I play it fast forward because it's a little bit boring. It give me the feeling: been there, done that.
Hopefully the fourth season will be at the level of the first two seasons.

4 out of 5 stars ENJOYABLY ADDICTIVE   May 2, 2010
Mr. D. L. Rees (DORSET)
More misadventures of the seriously messed up Walker family: control freak matriarch Nora and her clingy offspring. Guaranteed: any news (especially secrets told in the strictest confidence) will be passed on at the speed of light (their phone bills astronomical); lasting relationships with non-Walkers have barely a chance; any gathering Nora insists they all attend will degenerate into revelations, recriminations, slanging matches; soaring schmaltzy music will accompany eventual reconciliations.

Season 3 is full of the usual break ups and make ups, as the family's fruit business struggles to survive. Dead father's mistress Holly is now a cuckoo in the nest, virtually taking over. (Although regarded by Walkers as little short of The Wicked Witch of the West, Holly as played by Patricia Wettig has much going for her and is one of my favourite characters.) Also around is Ryan, recently discovered dead father's love child (not by Holly) - was I the only one suddenly thinking of "Twilight"? Most dramatic of all, out of the blue, is a very real scare....

It is all great fun - not least the sight of Nora engrossed in a book, "The Art of Letting Go". As if! Millions watch, grateful their own families are nothing like this lot. Others watch, apparently delighted to recognize aspects of their own families, mothers in particular. (Now that IS disturbing.)

Whatever the reason to view, here is another guarantee: there will be a rush for Season 4 the moment it comes out.

5 out of 5 stars Ever now and then there is one really good tv-show...   April 5, 2010

I watch a lot of tv. I love tv-series such as Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, Weeds, The Tudors and Dexter but ever now and then there is one really good tv-show, that tv-series happens to be this. Brothers and Sisters. Having bought all previous season of Brothers and Sisters on dvd I felt obliged to add to cart the minute it was available. Being apart of a large family myself (15 members in total!) the drama in this simply makes it all the more real. You will laugh, you will cry and you will fall in love with this brilliant tv-show. Although I thought that season one and two were better than this season, it certainly lives up to it's standards. You will love this.

5 out of 5 stars Love Love Love It!!   March 28, 2010

This series of brothers and sisters is just as thrilling as the other two box sets. I missed the first half of series four on TV so im waiting until that comes out on box set! I imagen that will be just as good. This series is a MUST HAVE!!
