Amazon.co.uk Review An effective supernatural thriller, Ghost Whisperer--here in its fourth season--once more stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as Melinda Gordon. Melinda, as you may know, doesn’t have the easiest of lives, seeing as she’s able to communicate with ghosts. She uses this skill to help them pass over properly, closing off the mysteries and loose ends of their lives. And there are plenty to deal with. Season four of Ghost Whisperer, which runs to 23 episodes, finds Melinda facing many tumultuous problems of her own, as she finds her own life turned upside down. While she addresses that, she also has to help out a ghost who’s struggling to cross over, a teenager with vampire desires and a ghost causing havoc at a nursery. The episodes stand alone here well, and even at its weakest, Ghost Whisperer does offer a solid episode of entertainment. But it’s regularly more than that, and even though this isn’t the strongest season of the show, there’s little doubt that you get your money’s worth here. Furthermore, Love Hewitt is excellent in the title role, and she helps paper over some of the narrative cracks. It’s still a fun show, and a warmly recommended thriller. --Jon Foster

Ghost Whisperer Season Four Review April 17, 2010 M. Miah 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I think a lot of the reviews done for this series have been done so with rose tinted glasses by die hard Ghost Whisperer fans. Unfortunately for me this series falls some way short of the high standards set previously. The love triangle between Melinda, Jim and Sam is just bizarre and quite frankly unexplainable. Even allowing for some dramatic licence it still stretches the believable to beyond belief. I was also dissapointed to see all previous storylines seem to have been dropped or put on the back burner. What happenned to Melindas brother and the plans of the others? For me those central plots were the things that held each episode together to form a coherent series and continuity of interest (each episode and series were part of a bigger picture). But by far the worst thing (for me) was this series does not seem to have Jay Mohr (Prof. Payne) in it. They do have a replacement character who it seems tries to be as much like Payne as possible but just comes accross as a cheap second rate imitation. Overall a very average series.
Ghost Whisperer March 29, 2010 C. Goss (UK) I was so taken by the storylines and it is a must see. You need to watch each episode in order to keep with the story. I cannot wait until Season 5 is released.
Hauntingly beautiful March 22, 2010 P. Smith (Ruislip, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I approached this season (series, why the change of description?) with a little trepidation as I was aware of the plotline about Jim. Not sure how it would be handled, and who the mysterious Sam character would be, I was nervous that the show was going to head in a direction I wouldn't want to go. I needn't have worried as this season was superb and I await the fifth with bated breath.
Okay the hauntings in this series/season were more secondary to each episode than the resolution of the Melinda and Jim/Sam story but the episodes were no less emotive and well crafted. JLH was as gorgeously sexy as before even if her outfit range seemed to be slightly more conservative than the previous seasons. Her understanding of her character and her on screen chemistry with David Conrad really sets the benchmark which makes this so watchable for me. Supporting cast all add to the mix and the whole is a delicious banquet of joy/pain, laughter/tears.
Not sure if the fire on the set had anything to do with the constantly wet town square pavements and roads, possibly it did, but the clever camera work really made it hard to tell that the set had suffered major damage since the previous filming.
Every episode was a very high standard and not one disappointed me. Can only recommend this if you like the idea of the show and admire the lovely Jennifer Love Hewitt.
