| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review A richly-acclaimed World War II drama, and one that deserved the many plaudits it garnered, Band Of Brothers remains as compelling, gripping and moving as it was when it first appeared over half a decade ago. And now it makes a very welcome debut in high definition. Across ten haunting episodes, Band Of Brothers follows the real-life story of the American army?s Easy Company, an elite paratrooper regiment, from their initial training through to the very end of the war. Along the way, not only do Easy Company take part in some of the most infamous battles and events of the War, but they also suffer many, often brutal losses. And Band Of Brothers pulls no punches in putting those moments across on screen. But that?s not, ultimately, what Band Of Brothers is about. At it's heart, this is the tale of a group of men relying on one another to get them through unthinkable situations. And this camaraderie is brilliantly put across by the generally unknown cast of actors, many of whom turn in outstanding performances here. The quality production values are sustained behind the camera, as Band Of Brothers? episodes are directed by the likes of Tom Hanks, Phil Alden Robinson (Field of Dreams) and David Leland (The Devil Wears Prada). The show gives all the impression that little expense was spared in depicting the right visual look, and the results are on screen to be admired. In short, Band of Brothers remains a vital, brilliant piece of television drama, and one that will stick in your mind long after the credits have rolled on the final episode. --Jon Foster

BAND OF BROTHERS - VIEW... March 9, 2010 Gordon Keenan (Glasgow - Scotland) I picked up this BlueRay set for under Eighteen pounds more on impulse than anything else.
Presentation of the product packaging is superb, very high quality indeed.
The actual series itself?? I enjoyed ever single moment of it, though at the first episode I did feel that having someone so well known for being in Friends, acting as a bully commander, was hard to accept, but apart from that the whole series itself was an incredible viewing experience.
This is a series I will go back to and watch again I reckon, simply because of the nature of the story itself.
One of the best TV series ever. March 8, 2010 Mr. Y. S. Finberg I bought this from Amazon in the January sales- there was 80% discount (!!) Needless to say the price was very good. I have seen this on the telly around 2003 (can't remember exactly when) and
already knew it was very good. At first my delivery never arrived, but after an email to Amazon they sent another delivery, which arrived very quickly, no hassles at all. I wasn't disappointed- the picture quality is amazing and the sound really good not to mention the amazing story of easy company, really a must see, very educational, very sad at times and beautifully directed and acted. Definitely one of the best television series ever!
Excellent!!! March 7, 2010 S. Hayward (Somerset) Thought the original dvd was good - quality and realism moves up several gears. A must have if you enjoy war related themes.
Great content pity about the Blu Ray flaw. March 3, 2010 R. Walker (Scotland) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Please be aware I would give the content of this Blu Ray disc a definite five stars my complaint is about the functionality of the discs. Namely that if I stop the play back and come back to it later the disc does not remember where I was and I have to go right back to the start and spend some minutes, selecting the language, watching the copyright notice, the disclaimer about the interviews, loading the disc, the film studio logos and then jump forward / fast forward to reach the point where I stopped the playback. This annoying flaw does not seem to be widely reported but it was confirmed to me by Sony. Now I am no doubt unusual in that I like to watch a disc for a while then stop it to return later. However to me the the disadvantage of not being able to stop and restart at the click of a button outweighs the relatively slight improvement in picture quality. I am unlikely to buy any more Blu Ray discs and I think it is shameful that this design flaw is not highlighted. According to Sony it is the discs rather than the player that is at fault. I am using a Sony Bravia 46 inch TV and Sony Blu Ray player with surround sound system.
Anyway if you like to stop playback and restart I'd buy the DVD set.
