I purchased this set from Amazon because I have recently started to watch the episodes again on TV and always wanted a more permanent record of this outstanding comedy. The scriptwriters jelled perfectly and produced a comedy to linger in the memory. Such wonderful characters the likes of which we will never see again. I still find myself laughing even twenty years on at their antics even though some of them are beyond belief.
Well done BBC a fine box set of this wonderful comedy and Amazon thank you for a great price, speed of delivery and quality of the item that was received.

I'm guessing all the reviews here are written by people who probably saw DA first time around even as nippers. Subjectively speaking, I occasionally enjoy a couple of episodes from time to time, just to make a change from my usual diet of Inbetweeners, Coupling, Peep Show and other edgier stuff. It's clean, harmless fun with undertones of dry humour beneath the slapstick. Some episodes stand out as having genuine laugh out loud moments but some dont work that well and are merely midly amusing. I don't know of many women who enjoy it nor anyone under 40 for that matter. Comedy is even more its time than music and as such I wouldn't show this to my kids, any more than I'd entertain my old mum to an evening of Jerry Sadowitz and Rammstein DVDs.

It is quite handy to have all the films in one box set. It is more economical as well. The series is well known in the UK. Some of the episodes are very funny, others, if not funny, are still amusing. We watch them together and enjoy a good laugh.
