| Customer Reviews: Great DVD really funny... October 20, 2007 Devon (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I loved the tv show, this dvd you can watch over and over he's the funniest man on the planet this is non-stop fun, they have replaced the music with some libury music because of cost and stuff and cut a few bit in the show but you don't really notice still a really good dvd to buy...
WARNING October 12, 2007 Human After All (UK) 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
First of all you'll probably be buying this because you loved the series as did I, if they just sold the TV series I'd give it 6 stars but what this DVD is, is some extras and an edited version of the series. It's edited in a way that all of the scenes where Dom and Pete are singing along in the car are completely removed or the majority of scenes with great music have MUZAK!!! dubbed over them. There is a warning by Dom at the beginning of the DVD about the muzak and that the other music was apparently too expensive to use on DVD, it's not Dom's fault however whoever made the decision to cut the music should be run over repeatedly by a large and painful rolling device. Just thought I'd warn you as alot of the series feals a bit too ''holiday show'' for my liking now.
Dares to be a little different... October 9, 2007 Martin (UK) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I caught a couple of episodes of this 'travel' documentary earlier in the year. Whilst I thought they were good, I was interested in seeing the whole series and purchased the DVD. What this travel documentary does is put the fun back into these types of programmes. In fact it harks back to a time when travel documentaries were a bit more raw. Dom and his mate Pete happily wander around various countries, trying the local brews and generally having a laugh with or at the people they meet. What works well is that both of them are happy to 'get out there' and meet the local people. The camera work is good and you get a flavour of everywhere they visit. Whilst the subject matter provides lots of fun moments, like when Dom and Pete very bravely drink 80% proof home brewed Vodka, (and I mean drink it down in one, not just taste it, and not just one) the show also has some insight and thoughtful conversations between Dom and Pete.
In all, this documentary is interesting to watch, filmed extremely well, and our two novice travel presenters Dom and Pete provide the laughs, but also show a great understanding of the people and places they come across.
Anyone with an interest in alcohol and travel will enjoy it, and that's most of us.
