Amazon.co.uk Review Terminator Salvation restores some of the balance of huge explosions and emotionally compelling plot to the Terminator series. Set entirely after the nuclear assault that left the computer system Skynet in control of the world, Terminator Salvation follows John Connor (Christian Bale) as he grapples with both murderous robots and his superiors in the resistance, who aren’t sure they believe the prophecies that Connor is destined to save humanity. Into the midst of this struggle tumbles Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington, who would later star in James Cameron’s Avatar); the last thing he remembers was being executed in prison decades before. Baffled, he falls into company with Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin, Star Trek) and a mute little girl who soon get captured--but Wright then meets and bonds with Blair Williams (Moon Bloodgood, Eight Below), a resistance fighter who remains loyal to the confused Wright even though Connor suspects he’s not what he seems--or what he believes himself to be. Terminator Salvation isn’t the astonishing synthesis of action and feeling that either The Terminator or T2 were. Despite this, Terminator Salvation has at least two skillfully orchestrated action sequences that will get your heart racing, and Worthington’s beguiling mixture of toughness and vulnerability gives his relationship with Bloodgood a genuine pulse. It’s imperfect, but compared with the hollow carcasses that most action movies (including Terminator 3) turn out to be, it’s worth seeing. --Bret Fetzer

Terminator Salvation! September 8, 2010 Je Salter (UK) This is without doubt up there with the best of the Terminator films and relates to the part of the story most fans have been waiting for 'Judgment Day' and the battle between robots and men, centering around John Connor, in this case Christian Bale.
As the leader of the resistance Connor is fighting a guerilla war against the terminators who have killed most of the population, captured others and are busy working on the destruction of humanity.
Into the mix comes Sam Worthington a man with his own battles to fight and struggling to discover his identity after losing his long term memory and joining the resistance.
The film has some excellent special effects, the story is good and so is the acting. Connor could have been made more 'human' but he gets away with it. Theres even a brief performance by a familiar Terminator! Well worth watching and watching again.
SWEET MERCIFUL MCGILLICUTTY! WHAT A MESS! September 6, 2010 chiggs58th (Slough, England) If the TERMINATOR franchise had started out as a children's Saturday morning cartoon show, this movie would make perfect sense. But it didn't. The orginal movie was a very dark, very violent and very serious scfi movie. So was the second one. The third movie, though not great, was still a perfectly good film. But this thing... it's just so awful I don't know where to begin. Suffice it to say that in this movie you will find terminator motorcycles. Yes, terminator motorcycles that despite having all kinds of ultra sophisticated tracking and other sensors can be tripped up by a Wiley Coyote style rope across the road. Terminator motorcycles that just happen to have human interface controls so that they can be conveniently ridden by human resistance fighters. That's all you need to know really. Terminator motorcyles. Good grief. Avoid.
Better than number 3, but not brilliant.... September 6, 2010 ZIMZIM I thought, like a lot of other people I'd imagine, that Terminator 2 was the pinnacle in this film series. The third movie was trotting out the same thing again, althought the effects were good, we'd seen it in the second movie, and probably enjoyed it more then.
For some reason I'd thought this movie would be like an "Aliens" version of the Terminator movies - action sequences with Christian whatsisname leading the resistance against hordes of terminators and/or terminator like machines.
It isn't like that, although it does differ from the usual travelling-back-in-time-to-protect-a-human storyline. It's like a strategic war movie. I thought it could have been better, they could have had some decent battle sequences. You don't even see more than one terminator at a time. I'd have liked to have seen 100s of them charging torwards the resistance army. I'd have hid behind my sofa, if I had one.
Better than 3 August 27, 2010 Tegan Jovanka I have just seen the newest installment in The Terminator franchise, going into it with an open mind after witnessing the debacle that was T3 several years ago. Having said this, I honestly felt at though this movie did a fantastic job of translating the visions of the future that were set up in the original Terminator and T2 and fleshing out a feature-length film of them. While there indeed a few "what in the hell were they thinking" moments in the chase scenes, I felt that on the whole, the movie was a wonderful success, gripping me in a way that T3 never came close to. I truly hope prospective viewers give this film the shot that it rightly deserves and go into it with an open mind, and are able to just sit back and enjoy the ride...its a terrific one, trust me. Leaving the theater, I honestly felt as though this one gave the first two a run for their money as a film, as much as it pained me to say it. Truly a magnificent job breathing life into a series that could have very easy been done in once and for all with another terrible installment.
Great Film August 23, 2010 Salacious Crumb (Hampshire) Loved this film. Does what it says on the tin. Its just a good action flick. Probably only deserves 4 stars, but I've bumped it up as there are so many reviews that down rate it because of the skull on the special edition box (go figure?). This isnt the special edition box edition.
